Welcome to Normal Girl Productions

We bring stories to the screen that make people feel seen, heard, and understood. Storytelling has the power to bridge gaps, foster empathy, and celebrate diversity in all its forms. Our mission is to amplify voices too often left out of mainstream media, ensuring stories from all backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives have the platform they deserve.

At the heart of our vision is a commitment to female-led storytelling. We champion complex, dynamic female characters who drive narratives and explore the full spectrum of women’s experiences. By prioritising female voices both in front of and behind the camera, we challenge stereotypes, break barriers, and create authentic, empowering portrayals of women.

Our storytelling is rooted in inclusivity and representation, reflecting the richness of the human experience. Through themes of identity, mental health, belonging, love, and resilience, we aim to spark meaningful conversations and foster a deeper understanding of the diverse world we live in.

Meet the Team

  • Jasmin Batler

I love telling stories because they have the power to make people feel seen and understood. By embracing the female gaze, we reclaim agency in storytelling—while ensuring men are part of the conversation, not excluded from it. I believe true change in the industry happens through collaboration, not competition.

At Normal Girl Productions, we create stories that offer both escape and emotional depth, exploring the complexities of the human experience. A safe, inclusive set is essential to me, one where kindness, respect, and positive energy are the foundation.

Buzzwords like male loneliness epidemic, friendship recession, hyper-independence trap, and digital isolation paint a picture of a disconnected world. But storytelling can be a bridge, not a barrier. We want to tell stories that not only bring joy, connection, and belonging but also inspire people to question the status quo and challenge it in their own lives.

Now, at this point you might be wondering—why does a female-focused, proactively inclusive, and refreshing production company have a white, male co-founder?

For me, Normal Girl Productions is about the stories we tell, and—just as importantly—who we work with to tell them. I questioned whether it was my place to try and change the record when it comes to inclusive, female-led filmmaking. Could I be part of that shift in a meaningful and respectful way? Through my work with Jasmin, I found my answer: yes.

The very ethos of this company is change through inclusion—telling stories through the female gaze. And I want to be a part of that. It’s an issue that’s close to my heart. As the world becomes more divided, and as we continue to question what it means to be a man today, I want to be involved in telling stories that offer answers rooted in safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Stories that challenge norms, rather than reinforce them. That’s what Normal Girl Productions stands for—and that’s why I’m here.
